For the washing machine to work well, it needs periodic cleaning. When the user constantly operates the washer without caring about leaving, sooner or later it will fail. If a buzzing is heard from the machine during the washing cycle and the water does not drain for a long time, it means that the drain pump is clogged or malfunctioning.
In the article, we will consider where the pump is located in various models, how to check and clean it.
Why blockages appear in the pump of the washing machine
It is possible to determine that the pump is clogged by external signs. Pay attention to the following symptoms:
- Water drains poorly and slowly from the tank.
- During pumping, noise and buzzing are heard. The pump tries to drain the water, but to no avail.
Why is the pump clogged, which contributes to this:
- Dirt and debris falling from the water pipe.
- Garbage that falls into the water from clothes. These are buttons, coins, threads, hair.
- Bad detergents that do not dissolve during washing and clog the pump.
If the drain path in the MCA has never been cleaned, it is not surprising that the pump is clogged. Consider how to fix the situation yourself and clean the car.
Where is the pump
Some machine models differ in structure. Depending on the brand, the pump needs to be looked for in various places. To disassemble and eliminate blockage, you will need the following tools:
- open-end wrench;
- flat and Phillips screwdrivers.
Also, prepare in advance a container where the water will merge while you clean the pump.
You can facilitate the disassembly procedure by looking at the instructions. It indicates where the pump is located, after which you can act.
Before starting dismantling the pump, drain the remaining water and clean the filter.
- Disconnect the washer from the communications.
- On the basement panel (under the front panel) is a small hatch. Wring out latches of a cover of the hatch.
- Unscrew the filter counterclockwise.
It happens that the filter refuses to get out. Sometimes the manufacturer additionally fastens it with a screw. Then you need to unscrew the screw, and then the filter. Replace the container and drain the water, clean the filter.
Dismantling the pump through the bottom of the AGR
This design is typical for the brands Whirlpool, Indesit (Indesit), Samsung (Samsung), LG, Ariston (Ariston), Beko, Ardo, Candy. Access to the pump is considered the most simplified.
Do this:
- To remove the pump, you can tilt the washer back. But if there is no one to hold the technique, it is better to lay it on its side. Check first for water in the powder receptacle.
- If the bottom of the machine is covered by a panel, unscrew the screws and remove it.
- When approaching the pump, loosen the pipe clamps and disconnect them from the pump housing.
- After disconnecting all wiring and unscrewing the fixing screws, remove the pump.
After dismantling, the part must be cleaned. Read about it below.
Dismantling the front of the chassis
You can get to the drain pump in the brands AEG, Bosch, Siemens only by removing the front panel. This is a little trickier, proceed sequentially:
- Remove the top cover from the housing. To do this, unscrew the two screws at the back and slide the cover in the opposite direction from you.
- Now you need to remove the control panel.
- Pull out the detergent drawer by pressing the lock in the center.
- Remove the two screws behind the dispenser and one on the opposite side.
- Having opened latches, disconnect the panel from the case.
- It is not necessary to disconnect the control module wiring; you can put the panel on top of the chassis.
- Next, you need to remove the base panel.
- Now open the hatch door. Loosen the two screws holding the UBL lock, and also remove the cuff clamp.
- It remains to unscrew the screws along the perimeter of the panel and remove it from the body.
The pump removal process is the same as in the previous case.
Before disconnecting the nozzle and pump, substitute a container, as water may spill out.
Rear panel disassembly
When deciding how to clean the pump in the Electrolux and Zanussi washing machines, you will have to remove the back cover. For this:
- Disconnect the inlet hose from the body.
- Remove the screws holding the cover.
Now disconnect and remove the drain pump. If you are disassembling for the first time, it is better to fix the repair on the camera. So it will be easier for you to collect everything correctly.
How and how to clean the pump in the machine
To clean the pump from blockage, you need to disassemble it. To dismantle the cochlea, you only need to unscrew a few screws. Two parts of the casing will remain - this is the snail and the impeller pump itself.
Inspect the impeller: often, hair and threads are wound around it that block the operation of the system. Check the snail, it also needs to be cleaned. Reassemble and reinstall. After starting the program, check if the machine is noisy and how well the water is pumped out.
If the symptoms of the breakdown recur again, the pump needs replacement.
To avoid such a breakdown, follow simple rules:
- It is advisable to wash all clothes with an abundance of decor and buttons in mesh bags.
- Use only special automatic powder.
- Periodically clean the drain system.
- Clean and replace the strainer that is installed on the filler valve.
After studying the recommendations, you can proceed to self-repair and clean all the important parts of the machine.
